1. I really love to draw.
I've been drawing off an on all my life. Sometimes I'm good at it, sometimes I'm not. I think my talent in that area depends on how the wind is blowing that day...
2. I don't have a "one thing I'm really scared of".
As a horror author, this is kind of disappointing. I may be a weirdo, but just call it research.
I love to hear people tell me the creepiest things that have ever happened to them. I love it when people explain why some things are scary. But to be truthful, not much really scares me. The only thing really horrifying in this world (to me) are the lengths some people will go to be cruel to each other.

3. Being an airhead changed my life:
A long time ago, someone shared the SCP stories with me (Secure. Contain. Protect.), and told me that they were top secret files that the government didn't want anyone to know about.
I was like "What! Lemme see that.", and began reading voraciously. So, I obviously didn't Google it.

At the time, I knew nothing of Creepypasta or Slenderman or Smile.jpg... none of that was on my radar.
*Ah, thank God we're not all as gullible as your's truly, or there would've been a lot of people way more freaked out than me after reading SCP...*
Even though my naivety made me look dumb, it turned out to be an awesome experience. I actually got a once-in-a-lifetime chance to read some scary ass s***. And, I got to believe that it was real for like 2 days. (It was 2 days of paranoid hog heaven).
(I finally Googled it after I hit a really crazy one... I think it was the one about the "Living Room" that finally made me say "hey, I've been tricked.") *Duh.*
I wish this story was made up, but it isn't... unfortunately. It makes me look like a ding ding, but whatevs, live and learn I guess. (wink) I don't regret it. We should all be so lucky to read outlandish fiction once in our lives and think it's fact at the time.
("A Million Little Pieces", anyone?)

4. I have not been writing very long.
I wrote and finished my very first short story in April 2017. Before that, I always started stories and abandoned them.
It was/ is a horrible habit and after reading a wonderful book by Darcy Coates, I decided to change that. Once I leapt that first hurdle, finally finishing a very short (and not so great story), I never had as much of a problem finishing a short piece again.

Soon after completing my first story, I started working on medium sized stories. I had a little confidence, so by some miracle I finished them. I've been working my way up to a full-length novel ever since. I figure, if I can just do it once, I should be able to do it again.
I think I'm at the very beginning of my writing journey. I still learn things all the time that are probably common sense to a lot of other writers.
I feel like I understand some of the parts of story structure, but not all of them. Different methods work for me every time. Getting to the end of the story is not always easy, but I find that writing through the road bumps (if nothing else) gives me confidence to begin and complete my next story.

5. In real life, I work for "Have Tools, Will Travel".
Not too long ago, I was having a conversation about this with an author I'm a huge fan of. He asked me if anything crazy had ever happened during my work with the Have Tools, Will Travel company. Unfortunately, I've seen no evidence of occultism or crazy weirdo stuff happening in real life.
It's kind of a bummer, but the handymen don't seem to think so...

6. I'm super into darkwave, synthwave, trap and sad trap. Sometimes, I make my own.
I'm one of those people who really likes making soundtracks for their works in progress. A lot of the time when I'm writing or when I can't right, I get on YouTube and start searching for songs that would probably be a good fit for the scene.
I make music on Looplabs when I have the time, but lately, I haven't had much to spare.
7. I write in a kaftan.
Why? Because they're super comfortable and awesome.
8. When I'm in the middle of writing a story, it becomes very difficult for me to watch TV.
This really sucks, y'all. Because how are you going to get any down time if you can't ever chill?
9. Not really a fan of social media.
I'm not about to go on a rant about Facebook or Twitter. But out of the two of them, Facebook has a tendency to weird me out.
How the hell does it know I know certain people? Why the hell is it asking me about them? It's creepy.

10. The weirdest book I've ever read was Technomancer (Unspeakable Things, Book One) .
I'm not exaggerating when I tell you I really, really enjoyed this book.
*Gets up and does a weird little dance*
This book was amaze-balls, here's why:
1. The main character, Quentin was this kind of smartassed anti-hero, which I love by the way.
2. Nothing made sense until the end.
3. It was so random and weird! When I say weird, I mean, really weird.
A lot of people swear this book is a ripoff of some old show/ mini series called "The Secret Room". I don't know how I feel about these accusations. I have seen the mini series/ show and it does have some similarities, but I like B.V.'s book better.
It's been a while since I've read it, but my impression of the book has lasted for years: 10 out of 10 stars.
Well, that's all folks, 10 things you probably didn't know about me. Not my most poetic post (wink), but maybe now you know me a little better!
Until next time,
Happy reading and writing,
Avrin
PS, here's some Bonus Weirdness:
- An eraser under your keyboard is better than a carpel tunnel reducing typing pad. (imho)
- I'm a chick. (lol)
- I was adopted.
- Horrible speller, if spellcheck doesn't catch it, I'm screwed. = (
XOXO
