β„Œπ”¬π”΄ 𝔗𝔬 β„Œπ”’π”΅... ( π”Ÿπ”Ά 𝔗π”₯𝔦𝔒𝔯𝔯𝔢 𝔄𝔑𝔩𝔒𝔯)

For a hex with any power, you'll need at least a 3"x 3" sheet of hide. It should be cured and properly treated. It's important to carve your mark into the middle of it.

The π–’π–žπ–˜π–™Γ¨π–—π–Šπ–˜ need to know who's asking. If you'd like to skip the "signing of the hide" part, then the skin should be your own. The next ingredient refers to the length of the hex. I like to use rocks. They last a long time.

Staying Organized While Hopping Dimensions

Recently, I've been working on the origin story for my favorite character, Thierry Adler. Thierry is a Warlock who has the ability to 'pulse' to different dimensions. Thierry also has a myriad of different characteristics (that I’ve found difficult to keep track of overtime).
Stories happen, and through the course of several short stories about Thierry, his personality has changed. He's grown, become more snarky, learned new things and experienced losses.
So, writing his origin story is/was particularly difficult for me. I'd been working with, and focusing on a man who’d learned a lot about the shadowy, magic filled world he lives in. What kind of monsters exist, what kind of spells he can use to combat his enemies, what monsters hate other monsters, etc. His world is full of dangers and mystery, (and that's just his home dimension). He was beginning to find out what was really going on. Discovering the true scheme of things, if you will-- and something horrible happened--

Petit DΓ©mon ★ A Thierry Adler Short Story

The clock's ticking echoed against the walls.
The couple sat across from me, tense.
Quiet.
The infant in the next room was silent. Toys were strewn about the living room; some of them speckled with blood. I looked down at my cup of tea on their coffee table, along with their own cups.
The mother, (Mrs. Masters) her makeup was perfect, her clothes, impeccable.
Not a wrinkle could be seen on her.
The father, wore a light blue sweater, peppered with tiny red stains. His face held the deepest kind of resolve, the kind that forces a man to do the thing he thinks is right, versus the thing he wants to do. A dangerous expression to sport, if you ask me.

What The Heck Is Trigram Origins?

I noticed that with a lot of my stories, (especially where Thierry is concerned), I just throw you guys into the action with little to no explanation...

Sorry about that.
I tend to get a little excited and just plow through the action of whatever story I'm writing.

So, today, I'd like to talk about Trigram Origins, what it is and why I'm doing them.

Troll ★ Trigram Origins

I hate using public restrooms. I always have to line the seats with paper and perform acrobatics to not touch the porcelain.

So, when I’m forced to use a public lavatory, it takes me forever.

On one such occasion, I was setting up the flimsy squares of thin toilet paper just so… and I heard this…thing.

Walking around outside the stalls.
I froze.
Wondered why something that sounded like a horse was clod-hopping through the women’s bathroom. In Houston, Texas no less.

I immediately stood up straight and listened.
I tried not to breathe.
I considered standing on top of the commode itself, but I was almost sure I wouldn’t have time to hide myself.

Interview ★ Thierry Adler

1. What’s your favorite color?

T: I thought we were here to talk about magic.
Me: Just answer the question, Thierry. Damn.
T: Fuck, I dunno. Blue or something? Who cares?
Me: *sighs*

2. What weapons do you carry on you at all times?

T: A hunting knife. It’s spelled.
Me: Oh yeah? What’s it do?
T: Finds its way back to me. No matter what.
Me: That’s it?
T: It also self sharpens.
Me: Oh. I guess that’s handy.
T: What’s really handy is when I took a plane back home. I threw the knife in the trash at the airport, and wouldn’t you know, when I got to the hotel in Galway, it was already in my bag. It can’t be lost.
Me: Damn. That’s pretty cool.
T: Yup.
