The Host

The host is a nondimensional being (meaning he exists in all eventualities simultaneously). He looks human and they say he's 'nice', (if that's what you were wondering).

If YOU were a nondimensional being, you'd see why he came up with "the game". He calls it #tfteotw. Tales From The End Of The World. It's basically the only way he communicates with us (humans) anymore.

I think boredom made him do it.
After a few thousand years, it gets to the best of us, even The Host. I heard that's how he got his moniker, well, our 'human' name for him.

On May 31 a couple years back, he made his first appearance. In 2001, he 'broke' the internet by simply asking browsers if they were "in Grenin". For some reason, this made a few of us (humans) crack.

There's a lot of folks still in therapy over this short, off the wall question. The question means something, obviously. We just don't know what. What or where is Grenin--- and why is it so... familiar sounding?¿noʎ ǝɹ∀

The fallout from his seemingly harmless 'question' was accidental, and he later made a statement saying as much. A full public apology, (because The Host is a gentleman, I've heard).

Then, he disappeared again for years... turned into legend. Kids would tell stories under sheets with flashlights illuminating their chins and ask each other "Are you in Grenin?"

The game proved to be a bit more than they were able to handle. Some went missing. Others stuck around after asking the question but were never the same again.

Once they asked it, they were unable to stop and passed along the paranoia. The frenzied fear. The need to know. ¿noʎ ǝɹ∀

Welp, that's all I know about The Host, and the only reason I know as much as I do is because of my job. I've worked for the government for over twenty years. When you've been around lab coats for as long as I have, rumors surface.

You hear things you can't let go of. I know they say he's nice. That he's a kind 'host' but I'm still terrified of him. Which brings me to my last question. ¿noʎ ǝɹ∀

The one I'd rather not ask out loud or even type.

The one about Grenin. Does this place really exist? Is the question a warning? Does it mean something? ¿noʎ ǝɹ∀ I feel like the answer is on the tip of my tongue. I want to ask the question.

Please. Someone tell me something. Anything. I have to know if you are. Just tell me if you're there.

Are you in Grenin?

It is a celebration in the city state of Kyteia. 

It is the fiftieth anniversary of the fall of their enemy city state Grenin. The celebration ends in a panic-stricken riot when a man shows up in the clothes from Grenin. 

He is promptly arrested and interviewed by Lt. Nathaniel Wilkics from the Kyteian army. The Man, as he is known, has no memory of who he is or where he is from. 

He begins to tell Wilkics a spiraling tale of waking up cold and naked in the abandoned city state of Grenin and what led to his arrest in Kyteia. 

The story of the ghosts of memory, dragons, a Witch Queen and her undead servants, a forest stuck in the season of fall, and the creatures who dwell there.
